PUF IP Licensing

Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) technology is a silicon technology. It derives its features and functions from the silicon and the silicon chip fabrication process. PUF technology can be easily integrated into any silicon chip or programmed into an FPGA (see FPGA section for details). PUF technology uses standard silicon chip fabrication processes and technologies, it does not require any special fabrication process or technology. In the simplest implementation, PUF technology can add the following capabilities to any silicon chip:

• Make each and every chip unique and effectively unclonable
• Provide chip-unique characteristics to instantly and reliably authenticate each chip

PUF technology can also be used for more advanced security applications.PUF technology eliminates the need for securely storing cryptographic keys in silicon chips. PUF technology enables for a “keyless key chest” with

• Dynamically generated keys
• Volatile keys - key are re-generated for every authentication or transaction event
• Unlimited number of unique keys for each chip
